Origin / Location: Rauhental, Meißen
Wine characteristics:
Fruit and freshness that makes you want more
Lively and spicy at the same time, hearty and nutty
His "MeisterKlasse" wines are the winemaker's particular favorites. His Grüner Veltliner is grown in the Rauhental valley near Meissen. The heavy loess-clay soil, with a vein of sandstone running through it, gives the wine its balanced strength. To achieve a higher extract content, the winemaker halves the grapes in early summer. The abundance of aromas is allowed to develop for 9 months in French oak barrels before the wine is bottled without filtration.
This is what's inside:

MasterClass:
Our “MeisterKlasse” wines are special favorites. We count our wines from the HALF PIECE, from subtly toasted and multi-filled BARRIQUES and our SPONTANEOUS FERMENTATIONS among them.
Of course, we follow the highest quality criteria in the vineyard. When planting, we make sure to plant special, low-yielding clones or selections. This means sacrificing yield right from the start in favor of fullness and flavor. For our MasterClass, we reduce the grape load if necessary, halve the grapes and do one or two special rounds of foliage processing.
After hand-picking and sorting the grapes, we rely on long maceration periods. The wines are left on the full yeast until spring so that they can develop their character in peace.
Our Pinot Noir matures in a BARRIQUE made of Saxon oak. In 2019, a HALF PIECE finally moved into our cellar - in which our favorite white wine of the season can ferment. And our SPONTANEOUS FERMENTATIONS? This is where the master cooper "goes wild" and carefully experiments with the absolute highlights of each season.
